Couples Therapy in Bremen for Expats and International Couples

Couples therapy in Bremen for expats, intercultural and international couples.
A space for people who live between languages, cultures, and different relationship traditions.
Many couples I work with are navigating cultural differences, communication styles, and expectations that can make relationships more complex.
Having lived for many years in England, the United States, and the Netherlands, I understand first-hand the cultural differences that international couples often navigate.
“Love may be universal, but its constructions in each culture are defined, both literally and figuratively, in different languages.” Esther Perel

Short-term appointments are often available within a few days.

Individuals welcome!
Couples therapy at Beziehungswerkstatt Albatros doesn’t always require both partners to attend.
If your partner isn’t ready to come along or if you simply wish to gain clarity about your own feelings first, you can start on your own. Individual sessions can help you understand your emotions, sort through your thoughts, and decide what direction feels right for you.
Often, meaningful change in a relationship can begin even when just one person starts reflecting and growing.
It’s Not a “Last Resort”
Many couples believe therapy is only necessary when a relationship is about to end. In reality, couples therapy often works best before conflicts become entrenched.
Couples counseling isn’t an emergency room for broken relationships, and no, it's not a quick fix. Instead, this is an opportunity to strengthen your connection, improve communication, and create healthier ways of being together.
This having been said, I am quite aware of the fact that many couples wait a long time before seeking help. You are not alone in this!
And yes, you are more than welcome to contact me in any kind of non-medical emergency if necessary.
How Couples Therapy Works
The process usually begins with an initial conversation, where you share what has brought you here and what you hope might change.
In our first session we create a space where you can both speak openly and feel heard.
From there, we begin to look more closely at the patterns behind your conflicts: like old wounds, unmet expectations, or communication habits that have developed over time.
Once these patterns become clearer, we start working on new ways of communicating and relating to each other. You’ll learn tools that help you listen differently, express yourselves more clearly, and respond to each other with greater understanding.
Sometimes small changes can have a surprisingly powerful effect.

A Process of Growth
Couples therapy, like I said, is not a quick fix that magically solves everything overnight. But it can be the beginning of meaningful change.
Over time, you develop practical tools and new perspectives that help you shape your relationship with more awareness, honesty, and care — long after the sessions themselves have ended.
Complete Confidentiality
